Default slingbox

who has one? and if so my question is lets say I'm a cheap bastard(which I am)... now with one of these gadgets you can view TV on your computer and view the cable or satalite you subcribe to. my question is my parents in Mass have the bad ass cable package with on demand and a ton of movie channels. would I be able to hook up a sling box to their system, get cable thru my computer, then display it on my TV and in essence wirelessly splice their cable signal?

that sounds like a pretty low tech gadget.

I guess you can do what you're asking

man, that is sweet! I'm going to have to look into getting one, hook up the Svideo out on the laptop to my TV, then get phatty cable. Right now I've got a weak broad band signal I'm jacking from a neighboor, all I have to do is have my parents hook up the device to their cable box and I should be good to go. I'm such a cheap bastard.

well if to counter the weak signal, what if I get one of those wall outlet plugs that helps boost the signal? would that solve that problem?

the lengths I'll go to not have to pay for cable or internet.:chuckles:

I think you would want to go with the Slingbox Pro. Otherwise, I have heard that you would only be able to watch what your parents were watching. The Pro also supports HD w/ the HD connect whenever you get your LCD.

It is kind of expensive though, but would pay off in the long run if it worked well. I have never used one personally.

If your parents have TIVO or a DVR, you could hook it up to that. That would be sweet.
