Good low end truck?
Oh I will swear by my Fords for work trucks all day long. But he did say occassional work or hauling not a full time work truck
The Colorado may be pretty but it is a hunk of shit if you use it for much work at all...in fact I would stay away from GM trucks altogether for any type of work machine. I would pick Ford or a newer model Dodge (damn that hurt) Ford for actual work conditions and a Dodge more for towing type work.
The Tundra or the Taco are good all around machines that get good mileage, decent payload (F-150 class) and reliability as well as overall quality of build.
The balance is shifting from domestics as being the sole workhorse machines they once were, especially with their reliability ratings dropping through the floor.

when your talking true work trucks...domestic is still the top dog. as for what evolution is looking for i would say go with a toyota tacoma or tundra. excellent trucks for the average person who doesnt need anything really HD
