Condom coilovers?

You got lowered struts right? If not you are going to hate the ride from those things and even with them the slipons are rough riding.

You mean the shortened konis? I got the OTS ones. What's the difference?

OTS??

Well if you are going to lower your ride with a "coilover" then you need a shock that has a shorter stroke than stock. If you were to use a stock size stroke then it wuld "bottom out" which causes premature failure of the strut and lessens the dampening ability of the strut.

the easiest way to explain it is that I am sure you have seen cars on chopped springs and how they have that bounce to them? well that is because they are lowered on stock struts and the rod is at the end of it's stroke so it constantly is bouncing off the high compression end of it's run. Makes for poor handling all around and a poor ride.

Ahh ok been a long time since I looked at struts so didn't know what kind they were h:

Installation is simple.

Jack up car
Remove front tires
lift hood
loosen struts at top and bottom
replace with new struts and springs and adjust ride height
replace wheels

same in rear and it should take about an hour and 20 minutes with hand tools or 30-45 minutes with air tools.

I still need to order the rear shocks and find some 89-91 style rear arms. Altogether it's gonna be a little less than $1000 depending what I get the arms for. I went 400f/500r. Is the ride height pretty much just an eyeballing thing? What about playing with the dampening adjustment?

Height is eyeball mostly and check clearance for things like wheel movement and turning radius at both ends of the turning distance. Also consider turning with the potential to hit a bump driving the front wheels further into the well.

Basic rule is if you slam the shit out of it you are bound to bend some fenders at some point

dampening well that can be either done by calculated guess figuring weight f vehicle, fluid resistance, inertia and speed......or you can drive it and add or remove oil as needed (unless you have a dial adjuster type strut) to get it how you want it.
