Default GAH!!! Computer Gurus NEEDED!!!

So I am trying to reformat my computer and everytime I get to a new step on the delete create partition stage it freezes on me.

I have finally gotten a 10gig Partition created for Windows XP and programs only. Will the remaining 28.8gigs just be another local Drive?

the local drive should be wherever the os sits on
so say you load vista onto 28.8
when you boot into vista that 28 will be local

Yeah...so the 28.8gigs is no longer available to my system. Is there a way to get it back without reformatting and installing XP?

So how do I go about doing that? Or do I have to reformat all over again?

when you fist formatted yoru hdd and created a partition to install windows on you must have left that partition "Unpartitioned: Raw" or something
you need to create a partition on that unpartitioned portion
