just pop the windows install cd in, skip everything (skip the repair and all that crap) and go to where you partition everything. then you should see 2 lines there for the 40gb. Create a partition for the other 28.8 then hit next to install (just to format). Once formatting is done shut down the computer

So I created a partition. Do I just shut it down...hitting enter goes to the format the partition screen but it is to install XP on it...do I just hit enter then ONCE it hits 100% format I do a hard shut down?

actually you create the partition in install mode - should take like 2 secs and then boot into windows and start -> compmgmt.msc -> disk management -> format partition or whatever it is
