I completely agree with what Del. Frank D. Hargrove said. No white person alive in the US ever owned slaves and no black person alive in the US has ever been a slave. Yes it was horrible but I think that people do need to get over it and concentrate on current issues. For example, more black people are killed in the US every year by other black people then were killed by white people during all of slavery in the US.

And what exactly does this "Formal" apology do. If Virginia really needs to vote on whether or not they are sorry it happened then that state has some serious problems.

Uh no, Tark. A lot of black tribes enslaved blacks from other tribes. Slavery has been going on for thousands of years...it has nothing to do with black, white, asian, hispanic or whatever...it sucks that it happened, but people need to get over it.

 

you are mixing 2 different things... Yeah there was blac on black slavery in africa. Actually from the begging of civilisation Slavery exist not just black slaves but persian and all that shit.

But i was refering to the slave trade where european nation exported blacks from africa to the americas. that was mostly carried out by the colonist not local blacks.

 

not true...the primary source of slaves was through the sale of blacks captured by waring tribes and then sold to the Europeans who then proceeded to take the to America.

Some of you are a bit naive it's not even funny. Have you look at the census lately? Or maybe a research on the differences in races lately?

The fact is: we're not all the same. Obviously, there was a "headstart" for the caucasian. Obviously, there is an advantage being a male over a female, etc.
Don't believe me? Check out the pay averages in many different fields for male vs. female, white vs. the rest.

(take a couple of sociology classes and see how "equal" we all are)
