I just changed the image width to 768

 

Changing the canvas size will not scale anything in the file. Changing the image size will, but it will scale everything up. I don't think there's a way to selectively choose what you do and do not want to scale. It's a better idea to just change the canvas size, and then scale the object up or down manually.
