i lost my uncle to a car accident due to iced roads and and no control

does that mean the govt should spend more of its money on creating safer roads?
no.

ive lost family to cancer...doesnt mean i think the govt should spend more money on it...theres more important things to worry about....why not take the money poaring into cancer research and put it into general healthcare for the majority. offer incentives towards those who would cure the disease instead of paying for them to do it.

regardless, the fact remains that cancer research is already seeing a ton of money from the private sector, and will continue to do so. because the government allegedly cut back on their funding doesn't necessarily mean that cancer research will be impacted in any way.

here's a better idea, why doesn't lance armstrong go and make sure that every dime donated to cancer research (after expenses) is actually being put to a legitimate use, instead of crying to the media that the goverment "ate my baby".. i know why, too much effort, not enough publicity.

yea govt funding for cancer is a bit redone dent knowing well enough that there are private investors. My grandpa was lost to asbestos cancer, doesn't mean we need to invest money on the treatment why not send it told safety measures @ the job site. The whole idea is just a political game to win attention for whoever forks out the most money.

How many deaths due to icy roads vs cancer?

Not saying every penny should go to that, just disagree with your assessment of the situation. Simple as that.

im not arguing cancer kills alot of people. im just sayin even if it does...is it really the govt's job to find a way to get rid of it?

a better analogy maybe?

theres more homeless out there than the number of people cancer kills each year....yet we do next to nothing for these people....why is noone bitching about that?

homeless funding could be cut and there would be no outcry...why because they simply dont have a voice...famous people and people with power get cancer, thats why so much money goes towards it...people with power arent homeless so they dont care.

no thats so retarded even the govt would realize it...

that problem is as simple as devising a more strict drivers training system for our youth...problem solved.

I would hope the gov't would do something to help prevent or stop a disease that kills or harms it's people ...

Homeless situation is crappy, I agree. You also have to remember how much of our aid is focused outside of our country. I'm just waiting for you to come back with something that is equal to um... death.. Top illnesses you hear about are Cancer and Aids. The deaths from the two far outweight deaths from anything you've come with so far. I don't think you can really get more serious than death.
