about a year ago, I got this from Overstock:

Panasonic SC-HT690 DVD Home Theater System with 400W

Features include:
* Progressive scan 5 DVD changer
* AM/FM digital tuner
* 4 satellite speakers
* 1 Center channel speaker
* 1 Subwoofer
* Remote control

Specifications:
* Power: 450 Watts
* Audio inputs: 3 (TV, VCR, Aux)
* Component video out
* Media formats: DVD-Audio, DVD-Video, DVD-RAM/DVD-R, CD, CD-R/RW, Video CD, JPEG, MP3, WMA

after a 10% discount, no tax, + $0.01 shipping, it was under $140.

It was refurbed, so one of the speakers had a scratch on it ... but no biggie.

you do need the cable to make the speakers go "boom"

if you're any bit set on purchasing a home theater, might as well get this kit now. When you do get the HT, you'll be spending muuuuch more for crappier stuff.
