no, because there is no value in that application, but there is value in the house, for example.

credit
The ability to obtain goods, money, or services in return for a promise to pay at some later date.

Your logic is still flawed because if I do not use, apply for, or take advantage of the collateral I posess then it is nothing more than a posession and has nothing at all to do with credit, credit score, credit useage or anything else with credit. If on the other hand I use it as collateral for a line of credit then the house is now part of my credit.

And to clear this little discussion up I ask RB who works in the banking industry to clarify whether a house is considered credit or merely a posession as per our discussion.

In a financial sense, a house shouldn't be considered credit.

A house can be used as collateral, but its not "credit" per se.

No shit?? everyone has one no matter what, hell I am sure my 8 year old daughter has a credit score. This was never part of the discussion at all, the discussion was whether or not I lived on, relied on, or even cared about credit or credit ratings.

I think the correct phrasing for John would be "I don't use credit".

RB is correct "I don't use" is a better phrasing.
