Fixing your credit doesnt do crap. Just an FYI, if you have any debts that went into collections and are on your credit report. Once you pay them off they stay on there with a note that says you paid it which even though you paid it in full it still hurts your credit.

I don't think this is true if the debt was fraudulent or otherwise incorrect. My girlfriend had an issue with this once with a debt collection agency (debt wasn't hers, her ex-boyfriend got turned over to collections b/c of vet bills, she had picked up the dog at the vet once before so somehow her name also got on the account).

The collections agency acted like a bunch of assholes whenever she tried to take to them, so I sent a nasty little letter letting them know that this was b.s. and we planned to sue for all possible remedies allowed by law and set forth a few of those grounds and they called her the next day kissing her ass. It was all removed from the report and she never paid anything, so they can get that stuff off of the report.

I just did one of those disputes. Some credit/collections company says I had a medical procedure done, and I didn't.

I called up the collections co and asked them to send me some form of a bill or proof that I owe anything, never heard from them. Went on the other day to check out my credit stuff and it's still on there. So I put in one of those disputes. Now all of a sudden they are sending me a bill saying I own $48.

No, I'm not going to "just pay it" because it's a bogus charge. I don't have money to just go handing it out to anyone that just says I owe it to them.

i went through the exact same thing with my dad.

How stupid are these agencies. Despite having the same name the SS # is totally different.

I owed money on state taxes and I never knew that until they put a lean on my dads credit when he tried to refinance our house. Thats how we found out.
Took me almost 3-4 months to straighten this out.
