The first one is hella expensive! Close to 200 bucks after tax and shipping.

But the second one I like. My dad has it and he likes it a lot, only thing is it has 4 internal bays. I'm planning on having a raptor for my main then 2 or 3 250+ hard drives, at least.

Get external cases with that many hdd's it'll create so much heat that you don't want near an already hot raptor.

peice of plywood. no heat problems, dust is easily sprayed off with an air-duster. and it will cost you a few bucks.

Should I not get a raptor then?

I'm checking out the Antec 900 and I like it so far. Its a bit too gamey for me, but I can deal with it.

For the raptor they have 5.25" hard drive cooling racks that have fans on them. They're supposed to work pretty well.

That 3rd one by ThermalTake is pretty nice.

I'd get the Dynamat kit for it. It's like $25-30, just stick em around on the inside of the case, helps a noticeable amount.

Get the biggest and slowest fans you can. Big and slow = decent airflow with low noise. I'd probably say no more than 2500rpm on the fans if you want quiet. And make sure to get a PSU with a nice big 120 on it, adjustable would be nice.

My Raptor doesn't run any hotter than my SATA 120 or ATA100 160 or old ATA100 40.

This might help too. http://www.extremetech.com/article2/...2064993,00.asp

In their test, the Dynamat didn't help much. But they already had a pretty quiet system once they got to the Dynamat. I've put the Dynamat on noisy cases and it's had a good improvement. Especially on cheaper cases that vibrate, really helped cut down on the vibes.
