1 ohm home audio??? wtf???

500 watts??? good lord do you realize exactly how much power that is from a home unit??

I don't think even McIntosh makes anything that runs in that power class over the counter and they are just about as high a quality as you can possibly get in home audio.

Is this sub designed for a car?

If your determined, you could always use an automotive amplifier and power inverter.

I still say to get a home audio sub and amp.

If you want to use a sub with such a low impedance, you will have to spend grip for a home audio amp or spend a grip on a 500 watt power inverter and car amp.

yeah i think so. It's an 05 RE XXX 15in. I decided its a little to big for my car and it rattles the shit out of my trunk. I set it up in my friend blazer though and it was really low and clean. The Adire Brahma is comparable with the XXX with a very similar motor. My friend put his brahma (dual 2ohm also) into a huge ported box with only a 500 plate amp. It was very nice. I've been looking around and i found some home amps that put out quite a bit at 4 ohms. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshow...27&rak=245-692

Ported, and a 1000 watt plate amp would probably be enough i would think.

I apologize if these questions are noobish.

It isn't the power load that will hurt the amp it is the resistance feedback of a 4 ohm load pushing into a lower ohm load speaker, this will fry the amp.

Simply put do not use a household amp to run car speakers, it will not work.

just buy a pro amp and run it @ 4ohm bridged,
plenty of them do over 1000watts @ 4ohm
