I understand it from a retailer point of view, but from the consumer perspective it's kinda sad :hs:

Is the PS3 region free?

There is an online site selling the japanese version for 699 and 999 (20gb and 60gb versions) + shipping. They seem to still have it in stock.

I guarantee it's nothing more than wanting to say 'I have a PS3' :run:

I heard you cant use your ps1 or ps2 games on it either.

That is sad. I noticed it when the previous generation consoles came out.

You'd think any retailer that is worth a shit would already have direct shipments from Sony. Why would a company this large let that happen? I understand people are making a profit, but you'd think Sony would not release until an adequate supply was available.

I think it's so Sony can turn a huge profit on it too.

Yea i guess they just inflate the prices in the beginning. Seems like they would do everything they can to keep individuals from buying with the intention of making a profit.

Right now Sony is loosing a lot of money on every single ps3 it sells. The ps3 is a long term project. Eventually I'm sure they will be cheaper to make, and then they will start to make a profit.
