Default Ti-89

i just remembered I have EEpro installed on this thing and did half of my electronics homework in less than 5 minutes.

had it for 5 years, and I stand by a statement I've said before, it is THE BEST INVESTMENT I HAVE EVER MADE

if you are in the engineering or math fields i strongly suggest you buy one.... so many schools still want you to use calculators in the 82 or 85 series... but they don't want you to know is that even in it's lowest form the 89 (or any of the 9x series for that matter) can do anything you want it to... really, it can.

small list of what it can do that i use all the time:

expansion of terms
factoring of terms
fractions AS FRACTIONS
multiple-equations solver

shit this thing can even do differential equations, if you have to ever take a DiffEq class the 89 can basically do it for you, all you need to know is when to use it and where to put what it gives you.

the ti-89 makes the most difficult equations plug and chug. it's honestly the greatest thing, ever.

any school not allowing the use of something you are going to be using while you are in the work force is nuts and putting you behind the curve. sure you can do it all out by hand, but if you tried to do that in the real world your project manager would kick your ass to the curb for not knowing how to use it.

honestly, how can they expect you to work productively in the business sector if you have to sit down and do out every integral for just a rough estimate?

:Edit:

they banned them at my high school after they noticed that I was getting all A's on the tests but not doing well with anything else...
they gave me an 83 and i still got A's, it just forced me to be there an extra 15 minutes over what i used to. these schools think that just because you are using a tool you don't know how to actually do the material, which is not always the case. THIS ISN'T CHEATING, you still need to know how to do it.

I don't even own a scientific calculator... though it would cut down on working out problems if I did h:

I use a TI-92. I mostly use it to solve quadratic equations or linear systems (rref ftw). I also like the complex and polar solvers (especially useful for ac circuits). Lastly, the 92 solves integrals/derivatives/differential equations which has been useful when needed.
