Crankshaft torsional vibrations are far worse at no load (not in gear) idle than at any other time in an engine's rev range. Usually 2-3 times worse than at redline under load (in gear). That's probably the most reliable/consistent indicator of internal ICE stress. Plus, the oil pump often doesn't really provide enough oil to the head during idling - especially very cold weather idling. The 'best' way to warm up a car is to drive it but shift at very low engine speeds (I never go above 2.5k when the engine is cold). It's a myth that an engine needs to be warmed up before use. The combustion process doesn't really give a shit whether or not the coolant is warm and the engine block is warm, but you definitely shouldn't rev high until the engine is warmed up to ensure that the engine is fully lubricated.
But it's all being really really anally retentive, I doubt any of it really matters h:
Plus I feel like a bad ass, and it's like coming when the engine finally warms up and you get warm air h:

snitches get stitches
The people who installed my car alarm refused to install the remote start on my MT due to liability issues. Not that I really care. I find it pointless.
