I could get used to this
I went to my first structure fire last night... my right arm isn't even to the sore stage yet. I was controlling the nozzle end of the hoseline! Woot. I'm still at the point where it feels weak..
lol.
I didn't get any sleep, I have to work in an hour, and my body is ready to fall apart.. but I learned so much that I would have never learned in class and I got to play with big hoses and ride on big shiny trucks

So, skills weekend is finally over. I can now don my gear and SCBA (the masks you've seen firefighters wear) in one minute 43 seconds and am a pro at search/rescue. Well if you don't count the person I let die because the other FF on my team wasn't listening to my commands... I can raise and lower 28' extension ladders, force my way through walls with an axe and find my way out of a room following only a hoseline. I have never, ever pushed my body so hard in my life.
Anyhow, I'll post pictures as soon as I get them emailed to me from a LT friend that was there training

ahahaha holding onto a firehose under full pressure is fun! you point that sucker at the ground and it can easily lift you off your feet.
I know what its like to push your body beyond then have to do it again the next again and once you are used to it you'll feel totally different.
