no offense, but it sounds like you need to grow up.

hey, you're the one crying that your boss takes his work too seriously. since when are you not supposed to take work seriously? maybe you should be working at chuckie cheese instead.

I do take my work seriously. I just don't take it home with me. I have a life outside of work, unfortunately some people don't. I want family and friends at my funeral, not coworkers that I share an office with.

don't you work in a support role that requires you to be on call? did you not expect this when they gave you the blackberry?

i understand that not everyone wants to take work home with them, but in certain roles, it should be expected.

its about balance

i dont think randy needs to 'grow up'. i doubt hes in a formal position that requires his extra time outside of his workplace. sure, there can be exceptions when crucial things pop up, but for the most part, he should be able to live free from the pressures of work once he leaves his office. if he was a company VP, that might be different. and his superior shouldnt automatically expect him to live up to his own personal work habits

I'm no longer on call, and I've been on a Blackberry and other smart phones for 3-4 years now. I rarely get called outside of work, and almost never have to go in. It has nothing to do with that.

is he the kind of guy that you can talk to about feeling a bit overwhelmed and unbalanced as far as workload?
