yeah, but its ok to lose them, i've got them on my HD as well.

now when you plug your ipod into the computer, the computer just doesnt read it or anything?

your itunes are probably set to non auto update go to edit prefrences and look through there for auto update settings

that used to happen to mine but the computer should still recognize the source... when you hook the ipod up to the usb... does it charge or do anything??

it'll charge, but the "do no disconnect" screen that should be showing never comes up

my last bit of advice... if the other usb's dont work, is to try using your friends ipod(he can just re-update his ipod on his own computer) and see if his works on your computer
