yes you can and it will do it up to a point, but the reality of the matter is that you have functions on certain units more geared towards certain types of uses.
If you are gearing towards an off road application you wouldn't buy a street based GPS system because it would be less effective. The street based one also wouldn't include things like tide charts, hunt and fish calendars and more than few other more specific functions such as being able to map on both land and sea (my unit does water charting and shows depth calculations).
If I were staying on the streets all the time and needed mainly a nav unit then that unit would be decently high on my list...but not being waterproof, not exactly handheld friendly and geared more for an install than toss and go use I would say it is not good for this application.
