I taught myself how to drive stick by test driving new cars

TSX twice, TL, AV6 6-speed 4 times, 7th gen Civic, a couple others. I'm getting good at it now. Car with high engagement points are still a bit tricky, and since I've only had like 3 hours seat time total in all different cars shifting isn't extremely smooth. I get to drive a C6 Z06 and 360 Modena 6-speed next week

What are you a porter at a stealership? Or do you just ride around all day test driving cars? (hard way to learn, every car is different)

joey tried to teach me in a parking lot. i did fine.. didn't stall at all the first time.. but when i went onto the streets with cars around me, i froze and couldn't even get the car to start, let alone drive..h:.. so since then, i've given up. joey's not the greatest teacher though..

me: how do i know when to shift?
joey: you'll just feel it
me:

No I've just test driven a bunch of cars lately. And I am serious about buying one so I'm not dicking them around. It is tough, especially with the AV6 6 speed and TL...really high and sharp engagement points. I've always known the basics and how to theoretically do it, and the first time I drove the AV6 I only stalled it out twice in about 20 mins of driving.

I taught myself to drive stick when I bought my GSR. A friend of mine had halfway shown me how to do it with his '87 Sentra so it wasn't such a big deal when I bought the GSR. Since then I have tried to teach assorted girls how to drive stick with my GSR, my Miata, or my dad's TT; with varying degrees of success. My mom still doesn't have it figured out too well though, the garage would always end up smelling like burning clutch when she used to take my dad's TT out before he wrecked it.
