Road/MTB riders
I used to be heavily invested in both road & MTB riding.

Back in 1995, I had a first-gen StumpJumper with the OEM Shimano BioPace Elliptical gearset. Only mod was a RockShox oil-elastomer suspension fork, but it was enough to bomb down Mt. Tamalpais at a pretty good clip.
As the trails grew crowded, I switched over to road riding in 1998. Since I wasn't riding as often, I kept things pretty basic. Specialized Allez, with a 56-40-28 front gearset.
I sold the StumpJumper (a decision I regret to this day).

The Allez is still up in NorCal. :hs: No reasonable places to ride in LA..
