is the current US military's power overstretched like the Roman empire's military was? the crisis between israel and everyoneelsearoundthem, iraq, NK, etc. got me wondering. will the military be able to handle the next hannibal, attila, the goths, the celts and all the other tribes on-the-come-up looking to rape and pillage and revenge?

 

Umm... The roman empire didn't have roving submarines with thermonuclear ability. If somone were to pull shit, it doesn't matter which country started it, cause they will end up as a pile of rubble.

That's why we have nothing to fear from any sane country (Russia, China, etc), just religious zealots, terrorists, and rouge states like NK. And those countries would be hard pressed to pull an upsurp like that.

I never said it couldn't be intercepted, i was just saying they can travel thousands of miles so i'm guessing that would count as not being spread out too far

 

Our troops overseas are nowhere near being to capacity, we have nothing to worry about.

 

Good point... I have wondered and commented on this over the last few years. I truely think they are stretching too thin. I say look for a draft pretty soon... but even that wont go over too well.


Even with all these super weapons... I dont think they will be used. No one... sane... wants to blow up the world.
