Shopping for used car
Jaguar had a terrible problem with their electrical systems. When they were bought by Ford, they we're helped greatly with this by Ford. Also, 2000 and below Jag's had a nickel plated block. As the nickel was eaten away, the car would lose compression. Needless to say, costly repair. The timing chain replacements are also a VERY financialy intense ordeal. Granted they failed in only a small percentage, the repair was well over $3,000. Newer Jag's though, good cars. Just keep up on the maitenence. I'll have my XK8 hardtop one day.

The new Jags are much better, but build quality (sans mechanical) is still meh. I've seen some "pampered" XK8's that look like shit inside with cracking leather and carpet that fades quickly.
jaguars have been in the "top 5" of cars nobody should ever own since 1970. I've had a few friends that tried their damdest to keep them roadworthy, and although capable of pulling skirts, they never lasted more than a month without extensive work.

i've narrowed it down to
a 1970 chevy chevelle
a 1977 chevy nova
a 1993 volvo 5 speed 850s
a 1989 mercedes benz 300se
and maybe a 1976 chevy caprice
still slightly considering an 89 or 93 saab 900 / 9000cs

i knew i'd get criticism from a bunch of teenage honda kids
granted hondas are compact efficient long lasting. but the lack of style, originality, class, comfort, the plastic body, overall cheapness has me wanting to move on. yes i've owned a 91 honda civic and a 92 acura integra. They lasted me long with little maintenance and great MPG. I'm willing to sacrifice those two things for something different. I'm no expert though.
The honda I owned folded up like an aluminum can when i barely hit an old man's back bumper slamming on his brakes. The guy's bumper didn't even dent. I want something more solid even if it gets less MPG. I took my front plastic bumper off my acura and there was one peice of styrofoam underneath. That was embarrasing.
Too each his own
