Default DVD gurus

so say i have a family video that someone sent me. when i look at the propreties, it is a mpeg compressed with Divx Yv12. is it possible to put that on a dvd and play it in a conventionnal dvd player? if so how?

you need a dvd player that plays dvd-r and/or dvd+r

divx? you need to convert it to dvd then burn it, or get a dvd player that plays divx (philips DVP5960)

you might be able to demux it and author it.

DivX, .avi, etc all needs to be re-encoded, then placed onto a dvd.

there's a program called "TMPGC" or something close to that.

I know people on here have used it before.

TMPGEncoder does convert Divx/avi to VCD and SVCD

if your player can read vcds/svcds, you can probably fit a movie onto 2 discs. then you can drop the file into nero and burn it.

if you want to burn it to dvd, TMPG also does that, but there are a few more steps to burn it.

cool i'll figure it out i guess... BTW these are just 30 min episodes.


1 questions what format does a DVD play? i mean the usual format?
