I hope this works. I wrote comments for a lot of them on the bottom (in the comments area). Ignore my retardedness in many of the pictures

One of the girls I was with walked through crying. You walk a kilometer before you even reach the bones through this cramped wet dark tunnel. The catacombs of Paris were created as a solution to overflowing cemetaries and victims of plague. They just moved the bones down there. If it wasn't set up for tourists, you could easily get lost and die down there.

Needless to say, I thought it was pretty cool.

Regardless, its still in perfect shape, including the original marble on the floor. Gives you a good idea of what Roman buildings would still look like today if they hadn't been pillaged for their marble
can you believe it has withstood 3 major earthquakes?? that fact alone made me realize just how impressive and ahead of their time the Romans were.

Didn't work, I don't think you can link. Tell me which one and I'll post it up, I have no shame.

eonsx- True story. Its had some damage and its needed reinforcement, but it is still an amazing feat, and if I'm not mistaken, architects today are still having trouble figuring out the specifics of the building.

Yeah I have wanted to visit the underground catacombs for a long time. there is also a church (I forget where) that is made with the bones of the dead. I find it fascinating

There's a few of those, including one in Rome, which I got to see. No pictures were allowed though. Here's one:

Very weird, but not as creepy as the catacombs.
