The catacombs of Paris were created as a solution to overflowing cemetaries and victims of plague. They just moved the bones down there. If it wasn't set up for tourists, you could easily get lost and die down there.
Needless to say, I thought it was pretty cool.
Yeah I have wanted to visit the underground catacombs for a long time. there is also a church (I forget where) that is made with the bones of the dead. I find it fascinating
