Another VW lemon
Yet another person I know gets burned by VW.
NOTE: I know that some VW owners are blissfully happy with their veedub. This thread is NOT for you, so please move along.
My friends, a couple who are parents of a 1.5 year old needed a new car. These two are some of the nicest people I know; and probably too passive and naive. I haven't seen them for awhile and I learn that on the (bad) advice of their brother, they went out and got a 2006 VW Passat.
Passat 1: Check Engine Light comes on literally as they drive off the lot. Not knowing about cars, they turn around and exchange it for Passat 2.
Passat 2: Been in the shop for more than 30 days of it's first 2 months of ownership, and it's been an uphill battle from here. The stupid dealership told them that they couldn't do anything and only when they threatened legal action did the dealership offer them an *extended warranty*
which they naively accepted.
This is obviously a lemon and the lemon law applies. But they didn't know their rights. So now I'm trying to give them advise on how to proceed. So.... lemon law advise? Or experiences?
That dealership is screwing them over, and VW gets yet another strike. Love their ads, hate their cars.
