Well I spoke to two different tech people, and neither could fix the problem. They're going to send a work order to their engineers to try and fix it. Hopefully it'll fix itself.

That's why you should switch to Sprint. I work as an engineer for Sprint's network and I know why it's doing that, I just can't explain it in laymans terms.

Let me correct myself. I meant to say I think I know why it's doing that. I troubleshoot issues like this everyday and sometimes it's a quick fix but other times it takes days to resolve. As a customer there is nothing you can do other than complain to customer service and since I don't work for Cingular I don't know if their network is setup the same as Sprints. It's possible the problem might just go away because if there were like thousands of people all trying to access their voicemail at once it could block your call or route it to somewhere else.

Were you in a different area than where you usually check your voicemail from? Your voicemail is based in one physical location, and every once in a while if you try to call in to your voicemail while you're connecting to a different part of the network, stuff won't get routed properly. Usually it happens if you're sorta/kinda roaming even if you're not actually roaming...tough to explain unless you want me to barf up mass quantities of jargon.

Cingular has vast amounts of people who take care of this stuff all the time, so if something's actually wrong on their end and the tech support person actually got a proper trouble ticket in, they'll get to it eventually. h:

It got fixed somehow. I was never out of the area, and it's worked fine since I got the phone and service 2 months ago...nothing has changed since then.

Oh, and I despise Sprint.
