Default crazy whine/grind noise

Just started about 3-4 days ago, if you ever heard a train going over the tracks up close... that screeching metal on metal sound is what my car sounds like.

Doesn't seem to make a difference if I'm braking or not, turning doesn't seem to make it better or worse. I can't tell if it's coming from the front or the back or just one side, its so loud. The only thing that make it diffrent is moving forward, hmmm I didn't check if it does it in reverse or not... I'll check that. But when the car stops, it stops, when the car goes, it goes. It does it at highway speeds, or at 10mph and everything in between.

The first thing I thought it was... my CV Joints. I recently (within 2 months) had them replaced with new ones. They do have a lifetime warranty, so if that is the case it shouldn't be a problem to get fixed. I looked under the car quick when I got out yesterday, didn't see anything hanging or out of place. :dunno:

Any ideas? Can CV Joints sound like that or would it be more with the brakes?

Usually not real major and tends to leave no scarring on the disc but it is annoying as all hell and fairly common. I get them at least once a year when I drove the Accord daily. Usually a pretty small rock that does it too.

eh... yesno. It gets louder and quieter as I go... but as long as the wheels are turning it can vary in pitch, tone, volume etc. Not any specific speed that makes it change.

a metallic whistle / grind would mean your brakes are wearing thin ... but it's not loud like a train. That's pretty bad.

CV joints give off a metallic, rotational clicking noise ...

i had the same problem with a loud grinding noise coming from right front wheel when driving. checked the brakes and noticed the cv had ripped and that axle grease had enabled small rocks to stick to my dust cover which were creating the noise.

oddly enough, the grinding noise didn't happen on my way home from work.

There was a brief moment when I think what I was hearing sounded very much like a belt slipping, but as soon as I really noticed it, it was gone.
