muddyfuxor!!!!
I just got fukked over by some retarded bottom of the barrel volvo shop. I'm selling the shitbrick, and this lady wanted me to take it to them for an inspection. They look over it and find a few oil leaks, a few gaskets, really pretty minor stuff. I talk to the mechanic, and he says this stuff is pretty typical for a turbo volvo of this age, and its nothing really too serious.
Meanwhile, I'm sitting in the office waiting for them and this socially (and probably mentally) handicapped old hag is rudely answering the phone, pulling numbers out of her ass, etc. She quotes some guy "oh, I'd say about $180" for a valve cover gasket, which is litterally $15 in parts and 15 minutes DIY.
So she calls me up and quotes me almost $1600.00 for all the various little problems with the car, most of which A)don't really need to be adressed any time soon, or B) could easily be done by a better shop for half the price.
So now I've got to try and convince the lady that this shop is a real shithole and that she doesn't actually need half the work done. I thought I was rid of this thing (they really liked it when they checked it out), but because of this retarded old bitch, I'm probably going to have to wait around to find a more reasonable buyer.

I really feel like calling the owner of the shop and telling him what godaweful service this woman was giving everyone and asking him if there is any sort of method to the pricing, or if this woman just has free license to quote whatever she feels like. Listening to her talk for about 45 minutes to other customers, it was completely obvious she didn't know a thing about cars.

Its not really my choice. This place isn't even near Boulder... they just told me to take it to "their mechanic," which I felt obliged to do as a seller in good faith. Which meant driving 45 minutes both ways.
I could just get an inspection at Swedish Motors here in town and show it to everyone who looks at the car, but really, inspection should be the buyer's thing... and I don't have $90 to throw around.
