Default Workout crew: Shoulder pain? :(

About a week and a half ago, my right shoulder started hurting, involving exercises pushing away and pushing up from my chest. I have it a week of no shoulder exercise, and it still hurts. It only hurts a little bit during the exercise, but I know pain like that isn't good. It feels like one of the muscles that runs along the outside front of my shoulder is what's causing the problem.


Any idea how much longer I should lay off it? I really want to do chest tonight, but judging from the way my shoulder felt after 5 pushups, that may not be the best idea...


Suckage. Also, any healing tips?

I hurt mine in the rotator cuff area in mid December...I had soreness, and my collar bone pops when I move my shoulder forward. I'd lay off for 2 weeks, and then see how it feels.

yeah, I say let it rest for a couple of weeks. Even if it stops hurting earlier, let it rest a little more.

I still get some pain in my shoulder near the edge of the shoulder blade/rotator cuff area...havent started lifting again yet, but I'm going to try in a few weeks.

More than likely, it's what Brett said - rotator cuff. Those things are easily damaged.

If it's more of a muscle pain across the backside of the shoulder you probably strained a muscle doing pull downs or back exercises.

Assuming it's probably your infraspinatus muscle, which I was hoping for at the first, here is a little bit about preventative/corrective exercises:

See where the Deltoid fascia line is pointing to? That's where the pain is, but on the front of the shoulder...
