For those that don't know, and I hate bringing it up, my grandfather whom I was very close to, as well as my entire family, passed away last Saturday. Last Saturday was also my birthday (21). So i've been taking this really bad the past week, things are getting better thoe...

Anyways, I missed last week classes (tuesday-thursday, 4 classes). My first teacher doesnt have email and we just have lectures, he won't mind I missed.

Second teacher, all we have due is a presentation, and he told the girl in my group he was disapointed I wasn't there? whats that mean...

Third teacher is really nice, and told me to come back when I could.

Now, last teacher, weight training, 101 class... i email her and she makes a big deal, saying she is going to deduct 50 points a day Im not there, and I need to make the classes up etc etc...

I'm going to confront her tomorrow and kindly ask if those classes can just be omitted, but i have a feeling she is going to be a slut about it. Earlier in the semester i was sick as a dog, literally getting ready to puke and she told me if i didnt show up in 20mins to class, that i would llose points...

So do you think if she is a slut about it, i should go to her advisor or dean?

for death in the family... you should go to the dean.... and he/she should/will give/present you with a letter/form that you can then give/show to your teachers/professors so you can makeup/redo missed work.

this EXACT same thing happend to me last semester. i did not have to take it to the dean though. i spoke to the teacher in person and worked out a resoloution. Im sorry about your loss. my Grandfather passed away last year in october, on a saturday as well. He was the staple in our family and i know exactly what you are going through. just keep your head up and be there for your family. thats what I did anyhow.

well, she was exactly what i thought, a bitch.

to make the story even better, i wrote down all these things she was saying word by word (ahh the love of journalism major).

She stated, " this isn't a english class where you bullshit around and can come unprepared and do nothing aall class." If the campus papers last issue wasnt coming out this week, id so write an article with that in there, im sure the english building would love her then.

The she said, " I'm objective, i take no students personally, nor their problems or concerns."

BUT WHAT MAKES THE STORY EVEN MORE RIDCULOUS, after this huge verbal argument, 20 mins later, the first thing in class she does, it talk about another boy in our class, sister who died last weekend aswell, and she had a sympathy card, and was going to visit him, she went on and on for 20mins...

So i took all this info, and my own opinions to the dean, he agreed she was being unprofessional, I then, AFTER the dean, talked to her supervisor, and he also agreed with me.
