Default My new mission in life

Well surprisingly i work around a lot of car enthusitis, and today i was dealt a heart breaking blow to my ego... Well i was talking to my bosses about the stuff im planning on doing to my car. The illegal turbo kits, the suspension work, pretty much my life long dream of having a fast car. And we get into conversation about hondas n stuff... well one of my bosses that is an all-american-muscle car kinda guy was actually pretty cool about saying he actually thinks hondas can be fast and that i wasnt wasting my time. Telling me to go all out and sleeve my engine and get pistons n what not to ensure that my engine would stand high boost and get me to a respectable hp rating. Which i thought was cool of him to say, but like i said hes an muscle car type of guy that knows that his old 70 something, 400hp, strickly for crusing truck would walk all over me at any time on any day. So i go over to my other boss, the one that loves the exotics and we start talking about racing (yea, illegal racing with my boss!) and the f--ker tells me hes running 200 shot of wet nitrous on top of having a 600hp engine! I mean, come on there is just no way no how i would win in my 2000 accord, no matter what i did to my car. It almost made me feel like, "why am i even bothering to turbo my car, when there are cars like this-- shit even cars that are 260hp stock out there". So my mission in life from this day forward is to beat this guy. So, i was thinking about buying a new manifold, throwing in a h22, sleeve the f--ker and boost to maybe 25psi and get a nitrous kit, and do my damn best to beat him. Im sure he would make a friendly wager on it--maybe a weeks worth of salary for the winner? I dont know, only thing i do know is i want to beat him for bragging rights and im not sure if it would ever happen in a honda.

Btw, his car is a 1974 or 79 pantera with some american motor. I must admit his shit looked clean tho.

We do have weight on our sides in this instance. Those old muscle cars are TANKS. No one said our cars are light, but not that damn heavy.

You wanna beat, take him to a road course.

Damn, where the heck have you been. Havent seen you postin in a long time.
I heard installing an H22 in our 6th gen accords is a pain in the ass.
pain in the ass = spend more money.
you should ask him this to see if he is serious about it.
If he is running 200 shot of NOS, his torque numbers should be ridiculously higher than his HP. see if he knows what those numbers are. Domestic cars react different to NOS than imports.

Yeah i dont come on these car boards that much anymore--too many people postin shit that isnt true. Just got tired of wrong info being passed around like herpes.. but anyways back to his car. Ive seen it once, he brought it to work and it was the talk of the town. And yes, you guys are right when you say we have wieght on our side, but not much. We have a curb wieght of 2800lb's, his curb wieght is a little over 3100lb's, and if you factor in my system plus my wieght, im running way over that curb wieght. Plus my boss is a small italian dude, propbably a buck fifty soaking wet. But honestly, when we're talking about -200 from a thousand hp, does wieght really matter that much? If we were ever on a straight shot together, i wouldnt see him until the next buisness day!

Edit: Yeah im not sure what kinda suspension setup he has, but he said his car would outhandle mines by leaps and bounds. I dont doubt him, he's spent well over 80 grand on his car. Shit, the new engine alone cost double my car on kelly blue book! And to the person that asked if hes serious, yes, he would race anyone that is stupid enough to go against him- i mustve rode the short bus, because im going to try! They have these 'street courses' where i live, and you can enter and race in them. Only thing is i have to have a 5 point harness to enter after i put in my turbo.... and of course a roll bar installed in my car. So i might have to go all out race car if i plan on even racin him.

You think you'll be able to beat a Pantera.

You should research what a Pantera is first, it has a Ford v8 BTW.

That's great and all that you have motivation, but maybe it's time for a dose of reality. Do you have $15K or so to dump into a 6 year old grocery getter? Even if you have the money, do you think it would be wise to spend on your car? Are you finished with school? Do you have debt? If all your other priorities in life are in order, you have the money, and you are dead set on making your Accord fast, then for it by all means.

But if your main motivation is a fast car, there are better platforms to start with. How about a V8 f-body or mustang? Not my taste, but that's going to get you started in the right direction. You can make that car faster for much cheaper than you can the Accord.

You also have to realize that when you are older and make more money, you'll probably be able to afford such toys as your boss has.

The other doc I work with has a year old Porsche 996 that I have to park next to everyday, ride in it with him to lunch, golf, etc. And trust me, I want one...badly haha. But I know that eventually I'll get there too. It took him 25 years of practice to get where he's at. I have other priorities like student loans, starting a family, etc right now. Sometimes you have to accept it and put in your time...the toys will come.

Just my opinion...take it for what it's worth.

I hear you j, and tho i dont have much debt left (shit, only 314 left on all my credit cards combined!) and im done with school and what-not. I know that an accord isnt a great platform to start on, but i just want it to be a lot faster-- shit even half as fast as my bosses cars before i give up on it. Right now i actually make good money (about 40k year) and im actually going to get a new car when i pay my accord off this summer. But before my accord is garaged for life, im going to make it a lot tougher and make everyone in here proud to be driving moms grocery go getter... But after summer im planning on getting a 300c w/ dat hemi--ohh boy! If they make a SC for that, all i would have to do is boost it 15psi and throw in a shot of nitrous and the playing fields would be a helluva lot more fair.
