i hate ericssons.. in my book the Nokia are the most user friendly and even the first ime you take is in your hand, never used the menues you still figure out exacly what to do. Nokias have GREAT UI and they are solid phone that rarely break.

They are good phones, I would suggest the 6255i but i dont know if cingular has it.

you should start by switching to a quality carrier.

i honestly don't really know what cingular is offering anymore now that i don't sell them, but i was impressed by the S-E phones they carried. i personaly would stay away from anything motorola.

after browsing cingular.com, i'd say the LG CU320 looks good. im an LG whore, though. h:

Cingular claims to be the best in some outside research comparison :hsdunno:

I don't know about it being rugged, but I still have my Sony Ericsson K700 if you'd want that. I know it's not a Nokia, but at least it could play MP3 tones (has about 32mb of memory) and is bluetooth capable.
