Wow thanks a lot Mike. I'll try that out as soon as I can find a CD-R...I have about 80 DVD-R's but no CD-R's :chuckles:

If you reinstall windows, do you lose all of your files? Or does it just delete/reinstall program files?

Also, I upgraded to media center 2005 from a friend's CD. My PC originally came with MCE2004. Would I lose the upgrade if I can't reinstall from that CD? Thanks!

well shit theres your issue media Center is a horrible OS, I would run ME before MC on any given day. There have been more problems with that OS than any other I have heard of.

Format and install XP home...XP Pro...2000 hell even NT for that matter but get rid of Media Center ASAP.

No joke that OS is the worst anyone could ever run.

In 2 years I haven't had a single problem with it, except a malfunctioning keyboard that was fixed under warranty. My friend built a computer that performed similiar to mine (without the dual layer DVD burner) for about 2/3 the price. He's since spent about $800 replacing components that have burned out, and the thing sounds like a V2 rocket taking off. No thanks.

Send me $150 for a 19" flat screen TV and I'll do it.

I dunno if it happens in safe mode since it only happens when I'm running a shitload of programs. I know it's not overheating. I'll do the bad ram check thing tonight...thanks.

If it were me I'd reinstall. You will loose everything on that partition files, programs, drivers. you'll be back to just windows. The good news is you will keep everything on the other partition. And yes you will loose the mediacenter upgrade. If a renistall don't work then the problem is much deeper.

I don't want a flatscreen though...got a projector for that price and I am all over it. I am sure you know someone with a copy of XP you can borrow long enough to get your system stable.

What's a projector

As previously stated twice, the problem only occurs when I'm running massive amounts of program...television, downloading files, MSN, AIM, etc etc. I think I have a RAM isue.
