Hardware is cheaper. $499 for the Mac Mini G4 and $999 for the iBook G4. Good power at a decent price. The higher models such as the Dual Core Intel G5's are pricey.

$500 Dell that runs Windows XP

or

$2500 (monitor not included) Mac that runs OSX and Windows XP.

hmmm.... seeing as I've used and pretty much can't stand OSX.... the choice is pretty obvious.

Buy the $500 Dell and install Linux. (Fedora Core5 is my fav desktop at this time)

If it were not for Apple, Microsoft would not be what it is today. Where do you think they get their ideas from?? Apple IS overpriced, but using both platforms, I have to say that Apple is easier to work with. Unix is just more solid.

there's no way you can say that $500 dell is going to have the same specs as the $2500 mac, so that's a pretty stupid comparison.

It's an exageration, yes. But still not so outragious. There is simply no reason to buy an apple product.

Your statement alone right there is an exageration. If there is no reason to buy an Apple product, why would they still be in business?

you dont need to answer that, since you are biased.

*edit*

better comparison. Buy a Mac Mini (Intel powered) that can run OSX and XP for $499

vs.

"DELL" $500 system that only runs XP.

:dunno:

:dunno:
does the mac mini even come with a monitor?

anyway, i'm also amused at how, for years, apple put these benchmarks out that stated that their PowerPC processor would outperform Intel by leaps and bounds. and now that they're on Intel themselves, suddenly the Intel processor is quadrupling the performance of their previous hardware. yeah, right.. :chuckles:

Apple managed to get Windows booting on an EFI system before was able to. That makes my inner geek :reechy:

We could spend ours talking about it. Codes were stolen from Apple and sold to Bill Gates. There are a couple of documetaries on the way Apple was started. WAY before Microsoft.

But I work on a Dual 2.5ghz G5 AND a Dual 3.0ghz Intel Windows XP machine. I love them both.
