19 got my license when i was 18...so a lil over a year....my insurance is 50/50/100...so its a lil higher than PLPD for my state. But still its only a couple dollars less if i take it down to state minimum
It depends on where you live, how old you are, and what kind of car you drive. When I turned 21 mine dropped a few bucks. I was paying about $90/month on my 2000 Integra LS with full coverage. Maybe if you bumped up your Deductibles it would drop your insurance down some.

I have a 1992 Honda Prelude SI....I have no deductibles on my car since its only PLPD...I dont wanna put full coverage on it since its a 92 and if i do my insurance will jump to like 280 a month...Damn if i have to wait til im 24 or 25...thats gonna suck...I told my dad i needed a license at 16 but never got around too it until i graduated from HS.
you're a brand new driver. what do you expect??
the main factors that affect insurance premium are:
1. years of driving experience (more important than age)
2. coverage limits for liability (and comp/collision if you have full covg)
3. area you are rated in (your location)
4. your driving/accident record (the type of tickets and accidents matter)
5. annual mileage you drive
50/100/50 for liability is pretty normal coverage.. and like you said lowering the liability limits down to minimum isnt going to make much of a difference in terms of monthly payments.
youre only 19 and had a drivers license for one year. whos to say youre a more responsible/better driver than a 16yr old who just got their license?
maybe you do have a clean record.... thats not gonna help much at this point, since you SHOULD have a clean record at this point.
