Default Computer Help- Insane Spyware

I have installed Norton Internet Security and I still get this annoying program with a spyware. I never had any problems for months until 2 hours ago.

When I open a browser, it automatically goes to http://www.necessaryupdates.com/ even though I told Norton to block the changes. It also found a few trojans and took them out.

On the windows task bar beside AIM/MSN there is a 'Virus Alert' symbol with the occasional fake pop-up. When I visit websites, ads pop out.

Thinking of just reformatting but I don't want to lose all my files again. If I put it on my portable will these viruses and spy thingies stick onto those files? h:

download 2 programs

Lavasoft's Adaware
Spybot: Search & Destroy

install
restart your PC in "safe mode"
run the 2 programs.

Most spyware is started when windows starts. When you run a check for them, you can't get rid of it because it's currently running.

I hate both Norton and McAfee. Both overrated resource hogs.
