Default DVD Recorders

Tell me a bit about DVD recorders, the kind you hook up to your tv and work like a fancy new VCR and all. Suggestions on what to look for etc is appreciated. I think I am going to pick one up when I pick up my projector.

well ... the most important thing is disc compatability. I have a recorder dated from last year and it won't take any of the newer 16X media.

+R / -R compatability is nice to have
check for the recording speeds, typical is: 1 hour, 2 hour, 4 hour, 8 hour on a disc

They're a great investment. A 50 pack of brand name blanks are $15 now, so you can do quite a bit of recording.
