See the white thing in the middle? The drive connected to the end of the IDE cable should be set on master, and the one connected to the middle of the IDE cable should be set to slave.

 

omg...i would have never figured that out....looks from here though (cant see it very well) like the dvd burner doesnt even have one of those things...or do they ALL have that?...ill take it out n check it out....thanks alot for the help guys!

It might not be white, but it should looke similar.

 

NEC....i checked it out...and the cd-rom that came in it is not in either...its in "cable select"....since that ones going on the end if the IDE I should move that thing onto the master right?...and then the dvd burners' thing is on masters...move it to slave?

Or just swap their positions if you want the dvd burner to be first.

 

either you can put both in CS, or put the burner as master and the cdrom as slave

Set one for master and one for slave, if one of them is a hard drive set that one for master. Most newer motherboards can cope with slave being the first or second physically on the cable.
