quick tax question(s)
Ok, I'm doing my state taxes right now and I'm to the part where they ask about a renter's deduction. So here's my question? Can more than one person claim this deduction if they all rented at the residence? i.e. can both my ex-roommate and myself claim the deduction? Also, should I put down the total cost of rent or just the portion of it that actually came out of my own pocket? I mean, sometimes the amount I personally paid fluctuated a bit so it's hard to say...thanks for any help.
