insurance will still total it... missing engine = major overhaul to them= totaled

Do you think the tiltle will be a salvage title? When my dad got in an accident and the insurance considered it totalled he bought it back and the title was clean.

Some states require stolen vehicles to receive salvaged titles, some don't. Check with your local DMV.

My god that looks better than my Civic when me and my buddies took my old d16 out. Man seems like they would have taken everything to be able to have done a professional job like that. Whoever done it felt bad about it I guess and at least left the shell intact. Yeah I always keep my stuff a secret around meets and shows.

I'm going to agree with the majority here and say that someone saw the car, knew the swap was in there and went in for the kill.

Keep a lookout for someone local that has a new swap.

If you're lucky, they didnt pull the vin tag and you have the vin documented somewhere.

Or maybe you did this to get insurance money.

You stored the swap elsewhere and when the insurance company pays you for the car and you buy it back, you'll put the motor back in.
