Citibank gave me 2 cards...a platinum, and a frequent flyer miles one...both with a $1000 limit. I got carried away and paid it and cancelled it.

Just an FYI for the future............if you open the account to begin with the damage is done so to speak and having an open trade line helps your credit. Just cut up the card next time so you don't use it but keep the trade line open

Actually I wasn't being completely truthful. I cancelled the platinum but still have the other account (never activated though).

you might want to activate it then

Cut up the card if you don't want to use it but you have the account, might as well make it useful to you in the future!

My first card was a American Eagle card and it helped me when I was 18. Then Visa sent me a card offer 6 months later.

Visa...I'm hoping to get my Visa Gold card soon. I have a CapitalOne card but rarely use it.
