Default Computer Peeps

So about 2 years ago or so I built an AMD Athlon 2200+ system with an Asus A7n8X Mobo. My mom bought me a laptop a year ago so I gave the system to her to replace her Compaq. A few months ago the computer started crashing (was freezing in windows) and eventually we had to repair the OS when it would stop mid boot. We attributed to an issue with the wireless keyboard and mouse combo giving the "frozen" appearance and numerous hard reboots messing up the os. The computer worked for a month or so and has since crashed again. This time, my mom said that she could not use the PS/2 keyboard we attached, at all. Could not get into the bios and could not get it to boot from the WinXP cd. Same issue as before, it hangs on the booting of the os.

So, does this seem like a HD issue, a mobo issue or something altogether different. She bought a new PC so I will just take my old one back and try and fix it. Debating if it is a big or small issue though.

- it wouldnt be an hd issue, since it should still go though the bios boot up.

i had a similar problem... it turned out to be failing ram h:

I didn't even think of that. I guess I can try the DIMM's seperately to see if there is a difference.

I'd lean towards mobo/cpu/ram or just windows being FUBAR.

I figured it was Windows but when she told me that the keyboard wasn't working, that bothered me. Once I get it back I will figure it out.
