Wow this thread made it to two pages and 72 posts while the other threads the vid was posted in pretty much died off with a handful of replies (except the google vid thread).
Sometimes a repost isn't so bad after all :fawk:

It seems like no matter the style of music, people will always say "old XXX > new XXX!" I know everyone will argue that they sold out their style, that they were more original before, that they changed for the masses, etc. Could it just be though, that the feeling of exclusivity plays a part? "I know a good band that no one knows!
" [1 year later and the band gets airplay] "That [same] band sucks! Buncha sellouts!"
Which leads me to the question, can anyone think of a band that got better after becoming popular?

but if you think about it... generally they are so awesome in the beginning because they have their own styles.... as they become more produced... they are required to "poppify" their sound and it becomes overplayed, overproduced, and overcrapped...
i think one of the only bands i like just as much if not more after a major record label picked em up was atreyu....i mean they went to the high school up the street from mine, i've gotten drunk w/ them... but they've gotten better with time... it's nice
