Default could you jump out a 7th floor window...

...and make it alive??

there are fire alarms all over our 8 floor building, and about once a month they'll go off. not sure if theyre real or just drills, but us folk on the 7th floor never hear ours go off. so some coworkers and i were speculating what would happen if we got stranded inside cuz we couldnt hear anything, and i said if worse came to worse id try to jump out the window.

granted, im not jumping straight down. id try to get a running start so i could roll and tumble to minimize the impact and hopefully make it out alive.

so what you guys think? would it be possible???

It's possible but not probable.

once you hit, your vertical speed is going to be a lot higher than your horizontal speed, so i would surmise that that would be a pretty useless thing to do.

but anyway, as RB said, possible, but not probable.

depends on how you land..... the outward motion probably wouldnt help MUCH considering the amount of space to the ground, by the time you hit youd probably be going straight down......

70ft freefall?

You could survive, only if you were trained on how to take a spill properly. For any person running and jumping out a window, no way.
