FM transmitters omit FM quality audio. A direct connection though the aux in is the best method to keep the sound clean.

if the FM modulator is next to the radio, it'll actually make it worse, you need the FM signal closest to the power antenna.

FM transmitted signals = FM quality audio. There is no argument about it.

the iTrip is nice....and I would buy it. But the only reason I want to go direct is exactly what e3nine said...the signal is not clear. You'll get minor static and mono type sound quality depending on antenna signal. My sister has one...and she does not care about sound quality. I do not either, but it is noticable enough that I want a clearer input for clearer sound quality.

I have the iTrip...I love it, the only downfall is that it a.) eats power like a whore, and b.) if you come to the radio station you're broadcasting to the real station is generally more powerful than your little iTrip transmitter... unless of course you get the one that you can change on the fly

exactly my reasoning for directly hooking it up...plus, don't the equalizer settings more effectively when there's a direct connection?

Ok, so it appears I'm having more trouble than expected tracking down the Alpine Ai-net to RCA cable...Crutchfield (cheapest I've seen at $15) is sold out until the end of February. Best buy has it (for $25 ) and a buddy said he has a friend that works there that can get me a good deal but so far he hasn't gotten one cause they're out of stock. I really want to hook up my iPod now. I realy don't have the patience to wait another month...
