that is correct. Heat would build up and warp the glide that the laser rode on. Your disc would skip because the laser track was completely wrecked at some angles. Eventually, your upside down PS1 would do the same thing ... then you'd have to stand it up, or do some crazy things.

I think Howard Stringer should announce a release date... now would be the best time, if it's out this spring(as it was expected) they should inform us. If not they are risk losing customers to Xbox. It time for Sony to get off their ass and stop relying on their name...

Sony never had a release date on the PS3 set, so no need for an announcement. They'd never announce anything like this anyways because it'll clearly put MS over the top.

if you ask me, that's the last thing they should do. sony is known to delay, delay, delay. take GT4 as the perfect example. they kept postponing release, and at the same time stripping promised functionality. when the game was finally released, it was met with disappointment.

this is an impatient market. doing that with the PS3 would just piss off potential customers.

god, if the PS3 were to slip their release date, you'd have floods of 360 sales.

MS needs to ramp up their damn system production already ... I've only seen the system on the shelf, available for sale 1 time since November.

Polyphony Digital != Sony

I think Sony's taking a cue from the whole 360 launch, and is hopefully going to do things differently.
