fair enough. but only maxtor SCSI hard drives come with a warranty longer than one year. that's retail, but i'm assuming most people aren't able to buy direct or from distributors. and even if they can, only two types of maxtor hard drives come with five year warranties. the point is that seagate still offers better (longer) warranties for more models.

yeah i know your point about seagate having a longer warranty on more products - i wasnt arguing. maxtor couldnt afford to put that much cash aside for warranties.
